Black-Owned Funeral Homes in Jackson County

February 7 | 6:30 p.m. | Central Library, KC Public Library | Free

 

Explore African American history in Kansas City funeral services as Lee Ward, the director and owner of the Museum of Funeral History in Independence takes us through 150 years of black funeral history. Ward will explore the cultural, spiritual and family differences between black and white funeral services, as well as explore Kansas City’s pioneering African American undertakers and funeral homes, including T.B. Watkins and the Adkins, Kerford and H.B. Moore Funeral Home. A reception before the presentation will start at 6 p.m. Click here to RSVP
