Dr. Mary Davidson (In Memory)
It is with profound grief that we mourn the enormous loss of Kansas City Museum Foundation Chair Dr. Mary E. Davidson who died on December 6, 2021. Mary was a one-of-a-kind, generous, and fearless woman who led the Kansas City Museum at a critical time of transition, growth, and transformation. We were blessed to work closely with Mary since 2014. Our project would not have been realized without Mary’s early and continued involvement—it was deep, layered, wise, brave, honest, unwavering, and inclusive. She believed in and was proud of the Museum’s mission and vision, our staff, our collection, and our Board.
While we mourn the loss of our dear leader, colleague, friend, and mentor, we must also celebrate her incredible life and impact locally and regionally through her tremendous philanthropy and commitment to advance the greater good of our community through each project she supported. Mary loved Kansas City; she loved education, history, and the humanities. The Kansas City Museum is part of her immense legacy; her contributions in Missouri and Kansas are far-reaching, meaningful, and lasting.
Mary was a brilliant, beautiful light with a smile, compassionate heart, and quick wit that illuminated any space she inhabited. We hope you will join us in taking a moment of reflection and gratitude for Mary.
