The Kansas City Museum is honored and thrilled to announce that it has received a grant from the Ewing Marion Kauffman Foundation to build capacity for strategic planning and collaboration development related to workforce and career development. We are grateful to the Kauffman Foundation for recognizing our efforts and vision.
The Museum aims to be a dynamic city museum offering youth and young adults paid internships and employment opportunities leading them to careers in museums and the humanities. These young leaders will have access to a world of civic, creative, and entrepreneurial endeavors in the arts and cultural heritage. Often workforce and career development opportunities are focused on the corporate and private sectors. At the Kansas City Museum, we want to employ, train, nurture, and connect youth and young adults with viable, stable, high-paying, and rewarding jobs. We want to support youth and young adults in reaching their highest potential and aspirations as we invest in the next generation of diverse museum and humanities leaders.
For 18 months, starting in January 2025, the Museum will collaborate with a multidisciplinary team of consultants, schools, nonprofit partners, and youth interns to thoroughly develop and plan the workforce and career development initiative that will be implemented in 2026.
