Paul’s Story

Paul Gutiérrez, Deputy Director, Visitor Experience & Public Engagement
Paul has more than 15 years of experience in the nonprofit and public sectors. Prior to joining the Kansas City Museum, Paul was a Community Organizer and Advocate in Kansas City, MO working in the Historic Northeast Scarritt Renaissance Neighborhood. He received his Bachelor of Social Work from The University of Texas-Austin and a Master of Social Work from The University of Kansas. For eight years, Paul worked for the Mattie Rhodes Center, one of the oldest non-profits in Kansas City providing services ranging from direct mental health therapy to planning fundraising events to support community programs. His passion for community engagement has led him to not only work in the nonprofit sector, but also engage in other community events. 

He is also Bi-lingual and Bi-cultural, first-generation born in the U.S. son to Mexican immigrants.

Paul has volunteered his time and talent with various Kansas City organizations such as: DIFFA Holidays by Design, Bacchus Ball, and Neighbor to Neighbor Foundation, and has served in leadership roles including Event Chair of Starlight Theater’s Center Stage Group, Committee Member of the Truman Medical Center Charitable Foundation’s White Coat Gala, Co-Chair of the Kemper Museum of Contemporary Art’s annual Gala, Board Member of the Heart of American Shakespeare Festival, and Board Member of the Charlotte Street Foundation.

He currently the Co-Chair of Programming for Fashion Group International-Kansas City. He has been recognized as a Fastest Rising Star by KC Business Magazine and was named KC Magazine’s 100 by KC Magazine.
