Celia Ruiz Calderón
Celia Ruiz Calderón was born and raised on Kansas City’s East Side to parents who emigrated from El
Derramadero, Guanajuato, Mexico. Celia is the Social Determinants of Health
Project Coordinator with UnitedHealthcare, a Bilingual Mental Health First Aid
Instructor, Art as Mentorship Board Member, and a Commissioner for both Kansas
City, Missouri’s LGBTQ Commission and Municipal Art Commission. Celia is a
native Spanish speaker, interpreter, and community advocate.
