Join the Museum’s Curator of Collections Lisa Shockley for a guided conversation centered around Kansas City (and Northeast neighborhood) native Edith McDaniel (1910-1999).

A 1928 graduate of Northeast High School, McDaniel was a star athlete and received varsity letters in four sports. Eventually, she became a nationally ranked tennis player in both singles and doubles events. She gave up tennis after an injury in the early 1940s and taught at Whittier School for over 30 years.

After retiring from the Kansas City (MO) School District, she took up tennis again, becoming a top-ten ranked senior player in the 1970s and 1980s.
